Once you have registered your licence key on the forum, you can download the software AND the updates. You will find all the software and updates here.

[Features] Quantize & Snap

Quantize locks the grids of all running “slave“ players (even samplers) with the grid of the master.

Snap optimizes your timing by locking your actions (for example: loops, some effects like “roll“) to the significant divisors of the beatgrid. If the divisor is set to “1“ it locks right on the grid bars. If it is set to “1/2“ it set on the grid bars or in the middle between.

[Features] Difference between MT (Mastertempo) and Hybrid

Master Tempo tries to keep the pitch, no matter how much you change the speed. This leads into weird sound effects with bigger changes of speed.

If you want to keep a natural sound, use Hybrid-mode.

This mode allows the algorithym to change the pitch of the song when +/- 33% are over gone. Watch this video for more information

[Features] Other possibilities to control Cross DJ

Keyboard: In the settings, you can assign Cross functions to any keyboard buttons.

Mouse: Almost all important functions of Cross found their way on the GUI. This means you can use the mouse on them. For any faders and rotary faders, use the mouse wheel on them. Double click resets the fader (might mean: maximum, minimum or centre, depending on the function). Have a look at the little LEDs at the rotaries of the channel strips, those are switches.”

[Performance] Deal with audio dropouts

A lower latency makes your experience of playing music with your computer better. But a latency that is too low causes sound artifacts. Latency depends on the individual computer. Set it as low a possible without getting any clicks or dropouts.

[Performance] Cross DJ Mac/PC crashed

Sending us a crash report, along with a description of the context of the crash (Cross version and usage scenario that led to the crash) will help us fix and make Cross the perfect software. Crash reports can be found in the following places:

PC: Type Windows+R (that is hold the windows key and press R) and type AppData, followed by enter. This will open an explorer window in the hidden folder “AppData”. Navigate through “Roaming” > “MixVibes” > “Crashes”. From there you will find the crash dumps useful for debugging. Locate, by date, the one related to the crash you want to describe. This is the file you need to send us. Note that this file is not a text file and can’t be opened (usefully) by anyone than us.

Mac: When Cross crashes on Mac, a popup window stating the program closed appears. This popup window has a “Report” button. Once clicked, you should copy/paste the whole crash report (all the text) and send it to us.

[Performance] Beatmacher is running too fast

At the right side in the beatmatcher, you can set the zoom-level of this display according to your needs. The more you zoom out, the slower it will move. Sliding it upwards zooms out.

[Performance] Some tracks remain hidden from the searching

Click on the spyglass in the left corner of the searching field and check “More Parameters”. Or just in case: click “all“.

[Performance] No sound when cueing on the headphones

Dual-stereo mode: Make sure that the “Mix”-control in the top line of the display is not turned to the maximum clockwise. In this case you will only hear the master output in your headphones.

Single-stereo mode: Switch output mode to Dual-stereo.

[Performance] No sound but the waveform is running

You might have used the “Brake“ effect before and forgot to release it. The effect only has influence on the sound but not on the graphics. Release the effect and your music should play again.

You might accidentally have slided the crossfader to the opposite side and cut the sound this way. If you don’t need the Crossfader, you can switch it off for each deck to avoid issues. Therefore you simply click on the according letters beside the Crossfader.

Check if you didn’t switch to “Line in“ (Only Player A and B). In case you did there is a big sign in the waveform. You can switch back if you click on the letter on top of the according channel strip in the mixer section.

[Performance] Audio collection from an external driver

Plug your driver, the collection will automatically appear in Cross as “files.tab”.

[MIDI] Insert a mapping

Go to “Preferences” > “MIDI” > “Insert Mapping” (lower left-hand corner)

Mapping problem: Please submit your issue as precisely as possible on the forum.

[MIDI] Compatible MIDI controllers

Find the list of all compatible controllers here.

Cross DJ knows how to deal with MIDI-compatible controllers. You can teach Cross to work with nearly every controller on the market in addition to the preset controllers. To obtain the LEDs of working controllers, you should give Cross MAP a try to simple programming. If you use Cross full version, you can also use HID in combination with most PIONEER CDJs. HID means a perfectly fast reaction, as if playing a CD. And there are plenty of data sent to the player so even the displays are working for Cross.

Add more controllers, Cross can handle up to 8 MIDI-controllers. You can use the same model more than once.

[VJ] Video connection

Video: connecting to an external screen

Go to “Preferences” > “Video” > “Activate video” > Plug your external screen (requires restarting Cross) > Activate “Toggle External Display” (top left of the mainscreen)
